5 tips for getting cheaper train tickets

1. Book directly to avoid booking fees

Save on unnecessary booking fees when you book on our website or app.

2. Book early

The earlier you book, the cheaper your ticket could be. We put our advance tickets on sale around 8 weeks in advance. Hurry. They're first come, first serve.

3. Travel at off-peak times on weekdays

If you've missed our advance tickets, you should travel off-peak to save money Monday to Friday.

4. Use a railcard

Most railcards are £30 for a year's membership and give you 1/3 off train travel. They're a great investment because you can quickly make your money back in savings. Buy a railcard online.

5. Take the same journey 3 or more times a week? Consider a season ticket.

Season tickets could save you lots of money and they give you unlimited travel. Use our season ticket calculator to check if it's right for you.
