The festival kicks off with the Welcome Weekend, featuring free outdoor performances across Norwich city centre and a breathtaking aerial circus show at Chapelfield Gardens.

The Halle

Join a ragtag troupe of travelling misfits as they compete and challenge each other with amazing circus skills, fire breathing, daring aerial feats, tap dancing and acrobatics

Those with classical tastes will need to hurry to grab the last few tickets for a visit to the city by one of the UK’s finest orchestras. The Hallé are joined by former Chief Conductor of the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the Bern Opera House, Kevin John Edusei to perform Dvořák’s uplifting Eighth Symphony, bursting with beguiling folk tunes of Bohemia. Hip-hop jazz fusionist Alfa Mist heads an exciting contemporary music programme that also includes Manchester’s synth-pop powerhouse, W H Lung and South Africa’s B.C.U.C.

The City of Literature programme which runs as part of the festival over the weekend of 26-28 May brings fascinating conversation with writers and authors including Katherine May and Don Paterson. Norwich based polymath, Thomas Browne’s life and works will also be explored by bestselling writer and doctor, Gavin Francis.

South African afro-psychedelic future pop sextet Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness bring indigenous funk, hiphop consciousness and punk rock energy from Soweto to the Adnams Spiegeltent.

Outside Norwich, you can enjoy classical accordionist, Ryan Corbett in Sheringham; Waste Not – an exhibition redefining what waste means, in King’s Lynn; and the work of illustrator, cartoonist and writer Gemma Correll in Diss.
