Refresh of Class 317/6 trains complete

Abellio Greater Anglia has completed anupgrade of its fleet of 24 Class 317/6 electric trains that operate Cambridgeto Liverpool Street and Cheshunt / Hertford East to Liverpool Street services.

The trains received an interior refresh andupgrade to improve passenger comfort, as part of a £1.3m investment by thetrain operator, and the work has been completed on budget and ahead ofschedule.

The upgrade programme saw 96 carriages intotal improved with new seat covers and vinyl flooring, new First Class seatcovers and trim and carpets renewed, interiors re-sprayed (including grabhandles and luggage racks) and new signage applied.

The work to improve the Class 317/6 trains wasundertaken by Abellio Greater Anglia’s fleet maintenance team at the company’sClacton-on-Sea Depot.

The first completed set of four carriages enteredpassenger service in June.

Class317/6 trains are used on the West Anglia routes between London and Hertford,Harlow, Bishops Stortford and Cambridge.
