Abellio Greater Anglia completes energy-efficiency upgrades across region

AbellioGreater Anglia has completed a programme of electrical upgrades at railstations in East Anglia to make them more energy-efficient.

Thetrain operator’s ‘Rewire, Relight’ project has seen a complete rewiring and everylighting unit replaced with more energy-efficient ones at the following stations:

Alresford, Braintree,Brandon, Buckenham, Spooner Row, Stansted Mountfitchet, Westerfield andWivenhoe.

LEDs,new variable controls and automatic settings for the lighting will help toreduce electricity consumption and improve energy-efficiency, reducing the stations’carbon footprints.

The work has been funded by a Network Rail improvement scheme to enhancestation facilities.

AbellioGreater Anglia’s Programme Delivery Manager, Simon Wilson, said, “The Rewire,Relight project is helping to create more energy-efficient stations and, at thesame time, improve the station ambience and environment for passengers.”
