Abellio Greater Anglia delivers best performance for a year

Abellio Greater Anglia has delivered its bestperiod of train service performance for over a year. Figures released for the 4weeks ending 28 May show that 92.54% of the operator's services ran on time,the best result for more than 12 months and amongst the best of the 4 yearperiod since the company took over operation of rail services in the region inFebruary 2012. The result was well above the national average for theperiod, which was 89.8%.

Particularly impressive results were achievedon the Great Eastern Main Line (from Norwich, Ipswich, Clacton, Harwich,Colchester and Chelmsford to London) and Southend to London services, where94.08% of services arrived on time. There were also very good results on WestAnglia services with 92.28% of services arriving on time, regional serviceswith 91.97% of services on time and Stansted Express services with 91.61% ontime.

Looking at more localised figures the bestperformance was on the Norwich to Sheringham line at 97.16%, followed by theNorwich to Great Yarmouth (96.35%), Manningtree to Harwich (95.65%) and Norwichto Lowestoft (95.44%) routes. Though slightly lower, the intercity serviceresults (86.96%), were also amongst the best for those services over the last12 months.

During the last year the train operator hasinvested significant sums in train reliability initiatives to improveperformance across all of its fleet of trains. It has also worked closely withNetwork Rail to achieve better infrastructure performance. These latest resultsindicate progress in raising punctuality standards and the aim now is tomaintain that positive momentum in the months ahead. The moving annualaverage punctuality for the company is now 89.2%, slightly ahead of ahead ofthe national average at 88.9%.
