Prittlewelland Hythe rail stations are to benefit from better ticketing facilties on theplatform, as well as CCTV cameras, thanks to an investment in new ticketmachines by Abellio Greater Anglia.

The £80K investment in 2 new ticket machines and CCTV, which are due tobe installed at Hythe and Prittlewell next year, will replace the existingoutdated machines and means that, for the first time, passengers can purchase thefull range of train tickets before they travel and even collect tickets whichthey have bought online.

The new Scheidt & Bachmann cash and card machines will be equippedwith the most up-to-date and customer-friendly screen layout helping tosimplify the method for ticket purchase by reducing the number of steps tocomplete a ticket transaction. They will also comply with the requirements ofthe Disability Discrimination Act.

When purchasing a ticket, the screens will display relevant informationconcerning any travel restrictions that may apply to a particular ticket type, helping to ensure that customers are easily able to purchase the correct and mostappropriate ticket for their intended journey.

The new machines will allow customers to purchase tickets before theyboard the train, or collect a wider range of prepaid tickets purchased throughthe Abellio Greater Anglia app or other websites, and will accept all AbellioGreater Anglia Card Scheme accepted bank cards.

The installation of CCTV in conjunction with this investment will meanthat passengers will be able to purchase tickets and wait for trains in a moresecure environment.

AndrewCamp, Abellio Greater Anglia’s Commercial Director, said: "The new ticketmachines will vastly improve the ticket buying opportunities for passengers atHythe and Prittlewell station and the installation of CCTV will enhancecustomers’ feelings of safety and security while they wait for trains.”
