CCTV roll out to 33 stations complete

AbellioGreater Anglia has completed a programme to upgrade the CCTV at 33 stationsacross the region’s rail network.

The new,improved CCTV systems (some of which are at stations which previously had none)are high definition, feature facial recognition cameras and can be used by theBritish Transport Police to aid successful prosecutions, helping to increasepassenger security and deter crime and vandalism.

AtColchester, Ely and Norwich, the extra cameras offer enhanced security for thenew cycle parking areas that have recently been installed.

The 33 stations benefitting are: Acle,Alresford, Brundall, Chappel & Wakes Colne, Cressing, Darsham, Elsenham,Great Bentley, Harlow Mill, Hoveton & Wroxham, Hythe, Mistley, NeedhamMarket, Newport, Reedham, Shelford, Southminster, St Margarets, Thetford,Thurston, Weeley, White Notley, Hertford East, Derby Road, Felixstowe,Whittlesford Parkway, Sawbridgeworth, Stansted Mountfitchet and NorthumberlandPark.

Part ofthe upgrade was funded by the Department for Transport and Association of TrainOperating Companies Cycle Rail Fund 2015-16 for enhanced CCTV in cycle parkingareas.
