Celebrations for the Queen

Rail passengers in Essexenjoyed free treats at rail stations this morning, as train operator AbellioGreater Anglia began to give out over 7,000 cupcakes as part of theircelebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Staffand managers at Chelmsford, Colchester, Clacton-On-Sea, London LiverpoolStreet, Wickford and Witham gave out treats to commuters as part of the national ‘Station to Station Queen's Celebration’ campaign.

Thecelebrations will continue this weekend with other events around the network,including a giant tea party at Burnham Station House and celebrations atReedham and Sheringham stations at the weekend.

Abellio Greater Anglia’sHead of Customer Service – East, Neil Grabham, commented: "The railway'slinks to The Royal Family go back as far as the mid-nineteenth century whenQueen Victoria chartered the first royal coaches, so we are delighted tocelebrate Her Majesty’s 90th birthday at stations across the network as part of the national Station to Station Queen'sCelebration campaign. We hope that the festive atmosphere andgiveaways at stations brightened our passengers' morning commute."
