A little blue train, deckedwith summer flowers, has arrived on the platform at Great Bentley rail station, thanks to volunteers of the Shed project at Maldon and the Essex and SouthSuffolk Community Rail Partnership (CRP).

Shed volunteers worked inpartnership with the Essex and South Suffolk CRP and train operator, AbellioGreater Anglia, to improve the garden area at Great Bentley station.

Members of Shed, a charitythat brings people together through community projects, built a large planter, shaped like a train using reclaimed barrels and fitted bespoke wooden plantersinto the carriages. The planters were then filled with flowers by the Essex andSouth Suffolk CRP volunteers and Abellio Greater Anglia staff.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Area CustomerService Manager, Petrina Murphy, said, “Well done to everyone involved increating and installing this wonderful planter. The platform now boasts aninteresting feature as a result of the Shed volunteers’ hard work and we arevery grateful to them and the CRP for organising the project, which willprovide a bright and warm welcome to station users and visitors to the area.”
