AbellioGreater Anglia is investing in energy efficiency improvements at five more railstations on its network.

Thetrain operator’s ‘Rewire, Relight’ project will see every lighting unit in thestation buildings and on platforms replaced with more energy-efficient ones atAlresford, Braintree, Brandon, Westerfield and Wivenhoe.

Acomplete rewiring at each station means that the train operator will installvariable controls and automatic settings for the lighting, helping to reduceelectricity consumption and improve energy-efficiency, in order to reduce thestations’ carbon footprint.

Theproject is being carried out on behalf of Abellio Greater Anglia bycontractors, KH Engineering, and will continue into the New Year.

AbellioGreater Anglia’s Programme Delivery Manager, Simon Wilson, said, “The Rewire,Relight project helps us to create moreenergy-efficient stations and, at the same time, improve the station ambience and environmentfor passengers.”
