More peoplethan ever are benefiting from additional train services at Manea, two yearsafter train operator, Abellio Greater Anglia, introduced more services to theline.

Over 4,000additional passenger journeys were made in 2015 – an increase of 65% comparedto last year.

The passengergrowth comes after Abellio Greater Anglia introduced a regular, two-hourly weekdayand Saturday service on the line in December 2013.

Before the newservices commenced, only two Cross Country trains per day called at thestation. The introduction of a regular, two hourly Abellio Greater Anglia service, now connects local people directly with Peterborough, Ely and Ipswich.

Abellio GreaterAnglia Partnerships Manager, Geraint Hughes, said: “I am delighted that theimproved train service at Manea is proving a real benefit to local people. Fora long time we wanted to respond to the villagers’ request for an improved railservice and with the completion of a key stage of Network Rail’s improvementworks at Peterborough station we were able retime our services to include thestops at Manea. Two years on, the continued increase in passenger numbersdemonstrates that the service has created a real public transport alternative, which is proving very popular with the local community.”
