Rail stations across the region are set to shine, as Abellio GreaterAnglia commences a thorough clean of cycle sheds and high-level glazing at itsbusiest stations.

The specialised cleaning complements an updated programme of regular cleaningwhich has been created for 29 stations** which account for more than 80 percent of the passenger footfall across the Abellio Greater Anglia network.

Teamsworking on behalf of the train operator will clean all high-level glass andglazing (in addition to the stations’ usual cleaning regimes) using specialistequipment to access areas that are difficult to reach, ensuring thatstation facilities meet the high standards of cleanliness expected by customers andcreate a smarter, more welcoming environment.

This further initiative demonstrates a continued focus on creating apleasant travelling environment. Lastyear Abellio Greater Anglia recruited anadditional 56 cleaners, 40 of whom remove litter from trains and clean on-boardtoilet facilities. The train operation also invested £30,000 on new cleaning equipment - all ofwhich has had a positive effect on the company’s most recent National PassengerSurvey results.

Abellio Greater Anglia’s Customer Service Director, Andrew Goodrum, said, “Creatinga clean and pleasant travelling environment is a key franchise commitment andthis additional investment demonstrates our determination to make a realdifference for our customers. I hope that customers will notice a real improvement tothe station environment as our enhanced focus on cleaning brings results.”
