From Wednesday 31st October, Greater Anglia will no longer be automatically issuing new paper season tickets as it transforms its season tickets into durable, quick and convenient plastic Smart Cards.

The switch to plastic Smart Cards demonstrates Greater Anglia’s commitment to transforming rail travel for everyone, with faster, stronger and simpler tickets.

Ordering a new Smart Card season ticket is quick, easy and free! Anyone can order a Smart Card online at www.greateranglia.co.uk/smart and receive their card by post the next working day (if ordered before 10am), along with instructions of how to activate it. Commuters can also get Smart Cards at most ticket offices.

Smart Cards will transform travel for Greater Anglia passengers:

Save time travelling – speed through the ticket barriers by simply tapping your Smart Card on the reader

Save time renewing – no need to queue to renew your season ticket, simply update your Smart Card at a ticket office or online and activate it at the station ticket barriers, ticket machine or Smart Card reader

Save paper – no need to regularly replace paper season tickets, instead just update your existing Smart Card each time you renew
