Hertford East improvement works complete

Work to improve Hertford East rail station is now complete thanks to apartnership between Abellio Greater Anglia, the Railway Heritage Trust andHertfordshire County Council.

MP Mark Prisk and Derrick Ashley from Hertfordshire County Council willmeet representatives of Abellio Greater Anglia on Tuesday 29th September at11am to view the improvements and will then cut a ribbon at the stationentrance at 11.20am to officially mark the completion of the work.

The £65K project included the restoration of the exterior of the Grade IIlisted building, as well as more cycle racks and improved netting of the concourseand platforms to deter pigeons.

The Railway Heritage Trust provided funding for the restoration of thestation buildings which saw the exteriorbrickwork cleaned and restored, old signage removed and electrical cablestidied.

A grantfrom Hertfordshire County Council funded a transport integration project whichincludes new cycle racks and additional seating for customers.

The restoration works werefollowed by a deep clean of the entire station.

MP Mark Prisk and DerrickAshley, Executive Member Environment Planning &Transport Hertfordshire County Council, will meet representatives of AbellioGreater Anglia to view the improvements and officially mark the completion ofthe project with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11.20 on Tuesday 29thSeptember 2015.
