Hertford East rail station improvement works progress

Work is progressing to improve HertfordEast rail station thanks to a partnership between Abellio Greater Anglia, theRailway Heritage Trust and Hertfordshire County Council.

The £50K project includes the restorationof the exterior of the Grade II listed building, as well as more cycle racksand improved netting of the concourse and platforms to deter pigeons.

The Railway Heritage Trust is funding therestoration of the station buildings which will see the exterior brickworkcleaned and restored, old signage removed and electrical cables tidied.

A grant from Hertfordshire County Council willfund a transport integration project which will include new cycle racks andadditional seating for customers.

Abellio Greater Anglia is also waiting tohear if a planning application to install a new Customer Information Screenshowing onward bus connections has been successful.

The work is due for completion over thenext few weeks and will help to improve the station environment, enhancing thefacilities for the benefit of customers. The restoration works will be followedby a deep clean of the entire station.
