Improvement work completed at Bury St Edmunds station

Passengers using Bury StEdmunds rail station are benefiting from improved facilities, with betteraccess for disabled people, thanks to improvement works carried out by Abellio GreaterAnglia.

The existing toilet facilitieshave been completely refurbished to create a more modern, welcoming andhygienic environment for customers using the station.

A brandnew ladies toilet has been created using part of the floor area of the existingwaiting room. The existing wheelchair ramp was removed and the floor brought upto platform level with automatic doors installed to make the toilet easier toaccess for those with mobility problems.

A newdisabled toilet and a gents toilet has also been installed within the existingtoilet space, again with access from the platform through automatic doors.

The work ensures thesefacilities are compliant with the requirements of the Disability DiscriminationAct, making them more accessible to those with restricted mobility.

New seating has also beeninstalled in the waiting room, which has been repainted and received new flooring.Improvements will have also been made to the cycle storage facilities.
