Rail passengers will benefit fromimprovements to Southend Victoria rail station as Abellio Greater Anglia startswork to redevelop the booking hall.
The work will include:
a new manually-operateddoorway to the main entrance
a new automatic door to the westentrance, compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act
a new suspended ceilingsystem with new lighting, CCTV & a Public Announcement system
refurbished flooring
glazing to the platform-sideof the booking hall to reduce drafts
improvements to retail unitswithin the station
Repair works tothe ticket hall ceiling
New andadditional seating on the concourse
An improvedlayout for the automatic ticket gates to reduce congestion at peak times
The work is expected to be completed in theautumn and will result in an improved, more modern and welcoming booking hall.
