New Stansted Express ticket attracts new passengers

AbellioGreater Anglia has announced that a new ticket from Stratford has attractedeven more people to use its Stansted Express service.

The dedicated ticket, which enablespassengers to travel to Stansted Airport from Stratford rail station, via TottenhamHale, from just £7.50 each way has led to a four-fold increase in the numbersof people travelling.

The ticket was introduced in Summer 2014, whenaround 300 passenger journeys were made per four-week period. The figure is nowconsistently around 1300 passenger journeys per four-week period.

Passengers from Stratford can travel toStansted Airport, changing at Tottenham Hale, for just £7.50 each way whenbooking 30 days or more in advance, and £11 if booked 7 days or more inadvance. Tickets must be booked online at www.stanstedexpress.com

The journey time to/from Tottenham Hale isjust 36 minutes and the train station at the airport is directly under theterminal, just 2 minutes from checkout.

Overall, Stansted Express passenger numberswere up 21% on 2013, to over 6 million in 2014 - with the train operator’srange of low cost fares and fast, frequent services cited as the reasons thatpeople choose to travel to Stansted Airport by rail.
