A new ticket vending machineand CCTV has been installed at Prittlewell station, after an investment by train operator, Abellio Greater Anglia.

The new Scheidt & Bachmann ticket machine, which replaces the existing Pertis machine, accepts cash and card payments and,for the first time, allows customers to purchase ‘walk up and go’ tickets andcollect pre-paid tickets and tickets which have been bought online. The machinealso allows customers to purchase peak tickets for the following day from12:00.

Whenpurchasing a ticket, the screen will also display relevant information concerningany travel restrictions that may apply to a particular ticket type, helping toensure that customers are easily able to purchase the correct and mostappropriate ticket for their intended journey.

Andrew Camp, Commercial Director forAbellio Greater Anglia, said: “The new ticket machinewill make it possible for customers using Prittlewell station to purchase theirtickets before boarding the train, or collect tickets that they have previouslybought online, and the installation of CCTV will enhance customers’ feelings ofsafety and security while they wait for trains. This investment showsour dedication to improving the service to our passengers.”
