New train vinyls promote the Gainsborough Line

An Abellio Greater Anglia Class 156 train is topromote the Gainsborough Line between Sudbury and Marks Tey, following theapplication of new promotional vinyls, as part of the train’s livery.

The special Gainsborough Line train will beofficially launched next Wednesday (June 22) with its new vinyls proudlydisplayed at a photocalls at Marks Tey and Sudbury. The train operates acrossAbellio Greater Anglia’s local rail network in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex andCambridgeshire, so will be helping to promote the Gainsborough Line across theregion, including on the lines from Ipswich to Cambridge, Norwich to Cambridge,Ipswich to Lowestoft, Norwich to Great Yarmouth, Norwich to Lowestoft andNorwich to Sheringham.

The project is a joint initiative between AbellioGreater Anglia and Essex and South Suffolk CRP. The CRP sees Abellio GreaterAnglia work with local authorities and other local organisations and groups toencourage greater use of the local line to Sudbury, by building communityengagement, improving station facilities, increasing the profile of the servicelocally and developing other projects which help make the service moreconvenient and attractive to the local community and potential rail travellers.

Jonathan Denby, Head of Corporate Affairs forAbellio Greater Anglia, said: “This is a great way to promote the GainsboroughLine across the region and encourage travel on this scenic route. This railline starts at the attractive market town of Sudbury and through the sceniccountryside, including the picturesque village of Chappel, which is home to theEast Anglian Railway Museum.”

Jayne Sumner, Rail Engagement Manager for Essex andSouth Suffolk CRP, said: “The new Gainsborough Line train will help to raiseawareness of the Sudbury to Marks Tey line. With the website addresshighlighted on the train, we hope it will prompt travellers to find out moreabout the local area and use the train to explore it.”

The Gainsborough train isthe third in a series of four Abellio Greater Anglia four trains to receivevinyls promoting East Anglian community rail lines over the coming months withsimilar initiatives to promote the Wherry Lines (Norwich to Lowestoft andNorwich to Great Yarmouth), Bittern Line (Norwich to Sheringham) and EastSuffolk Lines (Ipswich to Lowestoft/ Felixstowe).
