New waiting room opens at Witham station

A new waiting room and upgraded facilitiesat Witham rail station are benefiting passengers.


Abellio Greater Anglia is upgrading bothwaiting rooms and the toilet facilities with funding from Access for All to createeasier access for those with mobility issues.


The new, larger waiting room on Platform1/2 is now open and benefits from DDA compliant push button automatic doors,two train departure summary screens and energy-efficient heating, as well asnew flooring and seating and redecoration in Abellio Greater Anglia colours.


Passengers can charge laptops and mobilephones and work while they wait with a specially made wall mounted work topwith plug sockets and USB charging points.


Additional facilities in the waiting roominclude CCTV, air-conditioning and a window through to the adjacent CustomerService Office, allowing passengers to communicate easily with station staff.


The brand new ladies’ toilet facilities havebeen installed next to the existing male facilities further down the platformand the existing staff toilet facilities have also been completely refurbished.


The waiting room and disabled toiletfacility on Platform 3/4 are also being refurbished and are due to open nextweek. The waiting room will benefit from new DDA compliant push buttonautomatic doors, train departure summary screen and energy-efficient heating,as well as new flooring and seating and redecoration in Abellio Greater Angliacolours.


The platforms will benefit from additionalseating as the waiting rooms’ existing benches will be relocated.
