Work begins to upgrade Colchester rail station waiting room

Rail passengers using Colchester railstation are to benefit from a better waiting environment thanks to animprovement scheme being carried out by Abellio Greater Anglia.

The work began on Monday 3 August toupgrade the waiting room on platform 4.

The new waiting room will benefit from DDAcompliant push button automatic doors, a train departure summary screen andenergy-efficient heating, as well as new flooring and seating and redecorationin Abellio Greater Anglia colours. It will also offer passengers theopportunity to charge laptops and mobile phones and work while they wait with aspecially made wall mounted work top with plug sockets and three bar stools.

The work is due to be completed later thissummer and the waiting room will be out of use until the work is complete.
