Work begins to upgrade Southend line station waiting rooms

Rail passengers using Rayleigh andPrittlewell rail stations are to benefit from a better waiting environmentthanks to an improvement scheme being carried out by Abellio Greater Anglia.

The work begins today, Monday 10th August, toupgrade the waiting rooms, which will benefit from DDA compliant push buttonautomatic doors, a train departure summary screen and energy-efficient heating,as well as new flooring and seating and redecoration in Abellio Greater Angliacolours.

They will also offer passengers the opportunityto charge laptops and mobile phones and work while they wait with specially-madewall mounted work tops with plug sockets and bar stools.

The work is due to be completed later thissummer and the waiting room will be out of use until the work is complete.
