New lighting and a non-slip floor surface are among improvements Greater Anglia has made to Kelvedon rail station footbridge.

Greater Anglia invested over £700K in a complete refurbishment of the bridge, which included repairing concrete structures and installing new steel reinforcements.

New, brightly painted handrails with lighting were also installed, along with a new non-slip floor surface to improve passenger safety when going up or down the steps.

At the same time, the height of the bridge parapet was also raised as an additional safety measure.

Greater Anglia’s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said, “The work at Kelvedon station means that the footbridge is now looking much smarter, has improved customer safety and is helping to enhance the station environment for our customers.

“I would like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”
