Work to upgrade Colchester rail station waiting room complete

Railpassengers using Colchester rail station are benefiting from a better waitingenvironment thanks to an improvement scheme completed by Abellio Greater Anglia.

The new waiting room featuresDDA compliant push button automatic doors, a train departure summary screen andenergy-efficient heating, as well as new flooring and seating and redecorationin Abellio Greater Anglia colours. It also offers passengers the opportunity tocharge laptops and mobile phones and work while they wait.

The platforms have also benefited from new wooden style benches which replace the older style metal benches. Thenew seating, supplied by Macemain and Amstad, will improve the appearance of theplatforms and is compliant with the requirements of the DisabilityDiscrimination Act to ensure ease of use by those with mobility issues.
